  My husband and I had been seeing Dr. Heredia for almost 3 years. I went to see him after having ear aches and he found out I had severe wax buildup. I was told to treat it with mineral oil and come back a week later so that he could do an ear wash. I went in for the second time after about a month because I couldn't go when I was supposed to. I was charged my copay as always and after I saw him, I had an ear wash done by his nurse assistant. It took about 15 minutes. I was about to leave and asked the receptionist if it was all they needed from me and Mrs. Heredia told me to wait because I had to pay for the ear wash procedure. I was told that I had to pay $50.00. Never had been told during my first office visit that I was going to be charged. I figured they should have billed my insurance but I didn't think about that then until later. I paid the $50.00 and left. However, I was upset because I had been caught off guard with this extra charge. I had my doubts about the whole situation and I called my insurance and they said that the office should have billed them because I was covered 100%. I called the office back to see if they could resubmit that procedure to the insurance and that I was requesting a refund and Mrs. Heredia said that they don't submit that to the insurance because the insurance doesn't pay that much back and they take too long to pay (her exact words). I was shocked that she would say that to me. Very unprofessional and quite rude on her part. How was that my fault? That issue was between their office and the insurance company. If they didn't like the payment and time it took for the insurance to pay, then why take that insurance? Made me feel they were desperate for money and looked to see if it was to their advantage to bill the insurance or charge the patient. How awful! My husband and I really like the doctor but after dealing with his wife, my husband and I will no longer go back. Because of her greediness, they lost 2 patients.
